Not all "natural" rugs are organic. A genuinely organic rug is made entirely from natural fibers that have been grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, processed without chemical treatments, and dyed using plant-based or mineral-derived colorants. At Organic Looms, every rug in our collection meets this standard.
Our rugs are free from synthetic latex backings, chemical moth-proofing, stain-resistant coatings, and flame-retardant treatments that are commonly applied to conventional rugs. The fibers are combed and spun entirely by hand, then hand-knotted by skilled artisans using techniques unchanged for centuries. The result is a rug that is as pure as it is beautiful.
As Arizona's only dedicated organic rug store, we've built our reputation since 2007 on this commitment to purity. Every rug you see in our Scottsdale Design District showroom has been sourced directly from artisan workshops where we verify the materials and processes firsthand.

Every material in our rugs is selected for its purity, durability, and beauty. We source only from growers and producers who share our commitment to organic, sustainable practices.
The foundation of most of our rugs. Our wool comes from sheep raised on organic pastures without synthetic hormones or antibiotics. The fleece is hand-washed and hand-spun, retaining its natural lanolin for softness and durability. Wool provides natural UV resistance, making it ideal for Arizona's sun-drenched interiors.
Used as an accent fiber to add luminous detail and texture. Our silk is hand-reeled and naturally lustrous, creating highlights that catch light beautifully in Arizona's abundant sunshine.
Grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, our organic cotton provides softness and breathability. It's often used in flatweave rugs and as a structural foundation in hand-knotted pieces.
These fast-growing, low-water plants are among the most sustainable fibers available. Hemp and jute add natural texture and earthy tones, and both are exceptionally strong and long-lasting.
Derived from flax, linen is one of the oldest textile fibers in the world. It adds a refined, cool texture to our rugs and is naturally antimicrobial.
Organic Looms maintains direct relationships with artisan workshops in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Christopher and Jaime travel to these regions regularly to verify working conditions, material sourcing, and production methods firsthand.
Every rug in our collection is:
Organic rugs are naturally suited to Arizona living. Wool's moisture-wicking properties help regulate humidity in air-conditioned homes during the extreme summer months. Natural fibers breathe, preventing the trapped-heat sensation that synthetic rugs can create on tile floors.
The natural UV resistance of wool and silk means your organic rug maintains its color integrity even in rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Sonoran Desert sun. And because organic rugs contain no chemical treatments that can break down in heat, they remain stable and odor-free year-round.
